1. Purpose
Youth Growth Network ("YGN") places high school and college students — including minors, typically aged 16–18 — into real-world internships, mentorship, and volunteer roles. The safety and well-being of student participants is a priority. This Notice explains key responsibilities and consents.
2. Parental or guardian consent
Any participant who is a minor must have the informed consent of a parent or legal guardian before taking part in a YGN program. Consent is collected through our program intake process, separate from general use of this website. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review the placement, the Host Organization, and the schedule.
3. Host Organizations control the workplace
YGN is a facilitator, not an employer. Internships and jobs are provided by third-party Host Organizations, which are solely responsible for their own workplaces, supervision, safety practices, working conditions, and legal compliance (including any applicable youth-employment, working-papers, wage, and hour laws). YGN does not control Host Organization premises or personnel.
4. Eligibility and legal compliance
- Participants must meet the eligibility requirements of each placement, which may include minimum age, work authorization, and — for minors — required working papers.
- YGN and Host Organizations expect participants to comply with applicable laws and workplace rules.
5. Code of conduct
All participants, mentors, and volunteers are expected to act respectfully and professionally. Harassment, discrimination, or any conduct that endangers a young person is not tolerated. YGN may remove any participant, mentor, or volunteer from a program at its discretion.
6. Mentor and volunteer expectations
Mentors and volunteers working with students are expected to maintain appropriate, professional boundaries. YGN may implement screening and safeguarding measures for roles involving direct contact with minors.
7. Reporting a concern
If you have a safety concern about a participant, mentor, volunteer, or placement, contact us promptly at ygnseattle@gmail.com. In an emergency, contact local emergency services first.
8. Assumption of responsibility
Participation in any program is voluntary. To the extent permitted by law, YGN is not liable for the acts, omissions, or workplace conditions of Host Organizations. Specific programs may require additional agreements, waivers, or consents.
